CDT Tommy Funk '20After helping the Army West Point men's basketball team pick up a victory over service-academy rival Navy and go 2-0 this past week, Tommy Funk was named the AWPAA Athlete of the Week. For the week, Funk averaged 23.5 points, 5.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game, while recording a 3.7 assist-to-turnover ratio. He was efficient from all areas on the floor, connecting on 73 percent of his shots from the field and 78 percent from deep against two Patriot League teams that ranked inside the top five in scoring defense. Funk led the Black Knights in scoring against Colgate and Navy, tallying a pair of 20-point performances. The cow guard got his week started with a career-high 25 points against the Raiders, while shooting 9-of-12 (75 percent) from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from long range.

He added four assists and three rebounds in the 91-81 win opposite Colgate. The Warrington, Pa., native followed that outing with a 22-point game against the Midshipmen. He shot 70 percent from the field and knocked down four 3-pointers in the 72-61 victory over Navy. It was Army's first home win over Navy since Feb. 11, 2012 and Funk played a crucial role. To go along with his scoring efforts, he dished out a game-high seven assists and paired that with six rebounds. Funk is now tied for 12th at the Academy with Josh Miller and Alex Morris in single-season assists with 119 and has scored in double-figures in nine of his last 10 outings. He is currently tied for 19th in the nation and leads the Patriot League with 6.3 assists per contest.
