MILCHEM Enrichment by Picatinny Arsenal Personnel
For the fourth year in a row, cadets in General Chemistry I were exposed to cutting edge science and engineering during the Military Chemistry (MILCHEM) enrichment presented by personnel from Picatinny Arsenal in Wharton, NJ. Cadets witnessed applications of the concepts they learned throughout the semester on topics related to explosives chemistry, Nano particles, and gas laws. MILCHEM provides a direct connection between the intellectual capital at USMA and premier Army Research Laboratories. Cadets routinely discover exciting aspects of chemistry during MILCHEM that translate to AIADs over the summer and develop into projects they pursue during and beyond their time at West Point.
