Cadets Learns What it means to be Vietnamese-American
The Vietnam Normalization Staff Ride spent a day interacting with the leaders of the Orange County, California community to address what it means to be a Vietnamese-American. The group met with Westminster mayor Tri Ta to hear about his experiences as an immigrant, a student, and a public servant. Following the visit to the mayor’s office, Cadets met with a panel of Vietnamese-American business leaders to learn how they have maintained their Vietnamese heritage while also becoming unapologetically American. Historians also had the opportunity to sit down to dinner with veterans of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam to hear their stories and their views on Vietnamese / American relations since the end of the war. An added bonus was the warm hospitality and incredible food shared with them at all of these locations.
