Army Softball Picked to Finish Second
The Army West Point Softball team was ranked second in the Patriot League preseason poll, it was announced yesterday afternoon. Additionally, Taylor Drayton, Jolie Duong and Ally Snelling were all tabbed to the Softball Preseason All-Patriot League Team. The Black Knights received 53 points including one first points in the poll, which was voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors. They were 19 points behind first place Boston University and one ahead of third-ranked Lehigh.
Army had a record of 14-9 last year before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Black Knights were on a five-game winning streak.
This is the third consecutive year that Drayton was tabbed to the preseason all-league team. Last season, Drayton batted .295 and belted three home runs in addition to having eight doubles and a triple. The Clayton, N.C., native is a two-time All-Patriot League First Team selection.

At the plate she led the team with four homers and was fourth on the team in batting average (min. 20 at bats), hitting .367. The Houston native was tied for second on the team in RBIs with 16.
Snelling led the team in the following categories in 2020: hits (28), RBIs (20), doubles (8), runs (19) and total bases (42). The Las Vegas product posted seven multi-hit games and had the third highest batting average (min. 20 at bats) on the team at .389.
