The Army West Point Softball team won the latter game of its doubleheader against Boston University Friday afternoon at the BU Softball Field, 7-4. The Terriers slightly edged the Black Knights 1-0 in the first contest.
The first game, which featured Alicyn Grete and BU's Ali DuBois in the circle, was unsurprisingly a pitchers duel. Grete entered the contest with an ERA of 1.81, the fourth lowest in the league. DuBois, who has allowed just five earned runs in 78.0 innings pitched this season, owns the best ERA in the Patriot League at 0.45.
Grete struck out seven batters and allowed seven hits in 6.0 innings of work. The lone run of the game came in the third inning with BU's Kayla Roncin homering to center field. The result extended the Terriers win-streak to 17 games.
The streak, however, would end at just that.
The Black Knights' bats exploded in the second contest. Megan Muffett and Ally Snelling led the way with 3 RBIs each. Both of the firstie captains were 2-for-3 at the dish. Read more.
