Cadets Study The Cuban Missile CrisisCadets in HI158R, Advanced Regional Studies in World History – Russia, played “Eyeball2Eyeball, 1962: The Cuban Missile Crisis.” Cadets assumed the roles of historical figures in American, Soviet, Cuban, and Media factions as they negotiated a complex interplay of Cold War power dynamics. Cadets had to communicate both face to face and via a state-of-the-art simulation messaging system that replicated the media environment, intelligence reporting, and diplomatic messaging of 1962. Eyeball2Eyeball was developed at West Point as part of the Department’s use of Reacting to the Past historical role-playing pedagogy. Cadets wore denim and spirit gear as part of USMA’s observance of Denim Day.
