Annual Kosciuszko Wreath Laying Ceremony
Last week the United States Military Academy conducted the annual wreath laying memorial ceremony to honor Polish American hero, General Thaddeus Kosciuszko, for his service in the American Revolutionary War. Hundreds of people usually attend the annual celebration that includes full military honors and remarks by dignitaries and foreign diplomats, but to maintain a safe environment during the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s annual wreath laying was only attended by academy personnel. Dr. John Benjamin, a professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and OIC for the West Point Polish Club, Kosciuszko Squadron, presented this year’s wreath. Cadet in Charge, Class of 2022 Cadet Sebastian Karpinski, Polish exchange cadet, Class of 2021 Cadet Bartlomiej Grzybowski and Master Sergeant Marcin Lajdecki also paid tribute to General Kosciuszko.
