Professor Mayer Cadet LectureProfessor Holly Mayer recently presented a lecture in HI301 History of the Military Art I titled “Congress’s Own: A Regiment’s Diversity, Resilience and Grit in the American War for Independence.” Based on her recent book titled Congress’s Own: A Canadian Regiment, the Continental Army, and American Union (Norman, OK: University of Oklahoma Press, 2021), Professor Mayer’s lecture provided a fascinating case study of one of the Continental Army’s most unique regiments to students of HI301. As cadets are currently studying the War for American Independence in HI301, Professor Mayer’s lecture offered meaningful context to their understanding of that important conflict. Professor Mayer is the Department of History’s 2021-2022, Charles Boal Ewing Chair in Military History.
