Suppiah and Dickerson Honored as CEP Scholar-Athletes
The Army West Point Athletics Association's Academic Support team has announced its Corps Squad Athletes for the month of September, tabbing Men’s Soccer player Jacob Suppiah and Sprint Football player David Dickerson.
The duo is the first to be recognized for the 2021-22 academic year. Each month, the Academic Support team will announce the honorees.
CDT David Dickerson ’22 - Linebacker - Austin, TX, a four-year member of the Army West Point Sprint Football Team and a starting linebacker. In recognition of his dedication and commitment to excellence, both on and off the field, CDT Dickerson was elected by his teammates as a defensive captain for the 2021 Sprint football season. As an example of his leadership qualities, he and his fellow co-captains develop themes each week that the team rallies around. For the week's Navy game (Oct. 2), the theme was "Together". CDT Dickerson addressed the team at the weekly team meeting and spoke about the brotherhood that exists among his teammates. He emphasized the importance of sticking together through the adversity the team will face at some point during the game. His words were spoken like a true leader, and everyone in the room respected what he had to say. What's even better is that CDT Dickerson will live out his words every day and set a great example for his teammates to follow.
CDT Jacob Suppiah ’22 - Goalkeeper - Memphis, TN, member of Company F3, is an exemplary leader both on and off the soccer field. In the classroom, Suppiah excels.
